The Endorsement Bev Perdue is Hiding
Every time Bev Perdue has received a major
endorsement in this campaign, she's been quick to tout it. But when the National Rifle
Association endorsed her earlier this week, there wasn't even a whisper from her campaign. I wonder
why. . .
"The latest disappointment comes courtesy of state Sen. Beverly Perdue of New Bern, whose strings seemed to be pulled by the NRA when she offered an amendment to a bill designed to protect the children of this state. The bill would help stop kids from carrying guns to school, which has happened all too frequently in the last few years."

"Perdue has failed her constituents and all North Carolinians miserably in leading the charge against the 'safe storage' provision. She actually introduced to the committee Wednesday, as her friend, a pro-gun advocate who argued that lightning and 'strangling on fuzz balls' put children in dangers similar to those posed by firearms. The absurdity of that would be laughable -- if lives were not at stake here. Cooler and more rational heads must prevail if lives are to be saved."
[ The News & Observer]
"Sen. Beverly Perdue, a New Bern Democrat, is lending the gun lobby a hand. She offers an amendment that would take the teeth out of the safe storage bill. The state Senate must stand pat. Without tough safe storage legislation, it just won't be possible for the criminal justice system to keep weapons off school grounds."
