Moore proposes property tax relief plan

Raleigh – Seniors should be exempt from paying higher property taxes as their home values shoot up, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Richard Moore said today.

Moore, who is on a tour of Western North Carolina today, said in a news release that as governor he would freeze property taxes for those over 65 who have lived in their homes for more than 20 years.

N.C. pension system ranked 2nd best-funded

RALEIGH -- A leading credit-rating agency says North Carolina's public pension fund is the second best-funded public pension system in the United States.
